Too many young people never receive that chance because poverty, stigma, or illness force impossible choices between education, food, and survival. FOCAGIFO exists to change that reality through education, mentorship, and vocational training that equips young people to build independent futures.

Unlocking Potential

FOCAGIFO's Hope Institute has lifted thousands of students out of extremely vulnerable environments, mentoring them to become self-supporting, productive, and caring members of their community. Here are four of them.

Deborah Nambalirwa

Trapped in a teenage marriage, Deborah felt very little hope. Donations from a U.S. sponsor enabled her to enroll in our Fashion & Design program, where she is now learning a valuable trade.

Christopher Ssubi

Christopher lost both of his parents and was being raised by his grandmother who could not afford basic meals or school fees, so she sought us out. He graduated in 2019 from our carpentry & joinery program and now operates his own workshop in Kawempe.

Roy Mwekanya

Roy Mwekanya enrolled in Hope Institute in 2022 and showed such dedication and promise that she is now a full-time teacher in our Fashion & Design program.

John Mugarula

Domestic violence led John's mother to separate from his father who did not provide for John's education. After graduating from our electrical installation program in 2024, John now installs solar panels throughout Kampala and supports his mother and 3 sisters with two meals a day.
